Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Aruba area.
Aruba’s climate is drier and the land less foliated than the other Caribbean islands, more like a desert resort area than a tropical one, largely because it gets very little rain or hurricane activity. Although
still maintaining ties with the Netherlands as a protectorate, Aruba became an independent nation in 1986. The main attractions in Aruba are the gambling casinos, which draw a large crowd of weekend commuters,
and the beach activities. There are only about a dozen or so resorts lining the beach on this small 20 mile-long and 6 mile-wide island. The air is incredibly clean here, with the beaches on the western side of
the island a little smoother, and the water a little calmer, than on the Atlantic side. Aruba is a very basic beach resort area, with plenty of small, unadorned places to relax with a local snack and a favorite drink,
for those who are either here to gamble, or are here to enjoy all of the elements of an unspoiled Caribbean hideaway without all of the humidity.
